Tatin is a HOTEL IN THE JUNGLE, unique for it`s
surroundings, and the simple and friendly atmosphere within.
Owned by argentinian-italian globber trotter Carlos
Simonini.
Our place is special because we live in harmony with Nature;
respect and protect the biodiversity while we work and live
in the Rain Forest.
If you look for a simple, relaxed time, good food, excellent

Finca
Tatin is on Rio Tatin, one of the most beautiful
sights in Rio Dulce. We are only 20 minutes from
Livingston,Garifuna the Caribbean coast; and 45 minutes
from Fronteras (Rio
Dulce). |

MAIN HOUSE
Guests
gather and socialize in our airy “Casa Grande”, the living
room porvided with armchairs, and several hammocks. There
people enjoy good conversation, music, board games, books, a
nap, ping-pong, etc.
There is
electricity (110v) from 5 pm till 11 pm, run by a diesel
generator.
We also have solar pannels to run our basic equipment during
day time and after 11 pm in the “Casa Grande”.
Restaurant
Our spacious and luminous restaurant, can accommodate up to
50 people.
We provide a wide menu of homemade food, all prepared with
fresh produce by our local indigenous cooks.
Breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m
Lunch from 12 to 3.00 pm
Dinner at 7 pm
Dinner is a “family meal”. We eat all together. The meal
includes: soup, salad, a main dish and a side dish.
Vegetarian requests are happily attended and welcome.
Bird-watching

This is a real
PARADISE for bird watchers. Jungle birds and water birds all
live in this area, right around your bungalow, along the
trails, in the river, at sea.
A few examples: toucans, oropendulas, hummingbirds, white
and gray herons, cormorans, wild ducks, parrots, cukoos,
etc.

Jungle Hikes
Short trail behind the Finca, to a stream and
“Aktenamit” (Community development project)
. 20 min
For this hike we have a special guide called
Rosul, for free.

Aldea Tatin (ONLY WITH GUIDE)
Hike trough the jungle in a well marked trail,
to a cve and a water fall (30 min); continue to
the local village (aldea) (45 min) and then to
Livingston (Garifuna town on the Caribbean Coast
(4-5 hs).
Return by lancha (motor boat), public or ours.

JUNGLE BY NIGHT (minimum 3 people, with guide).
We take you to experience the jungle at night,
with our own guide, to hear the different noices,
and see nocturnal wildlife.
You take your our flash light.

Kayaks tours |

 You
can explore the beauty of this place using a Kayak,
wondering in the river and its`branches, on your own. We
provide a map.
Rental from 1 h up to whole day.
BIOTOPO
CHOCON-MACHACHAS NATIONAL PARK. A marvellous place to
kayak through water lilies gardens, mangroves; hear and see
hauler monkeys, lots of birds, manaties.
Options:
- on your own, both ways. (aprox.2 hs each way)
- getting a one way ride in our lancha to the entrance of
the park and paddling back on your own. (2 hs)
- same tour with our guide
- all the tour with our lancha (no kayaks)
LIVINGSTON CANYON (aprox.2hs each way)
See birds, great vegetation, fishermen, open sky.
Options:
- both ways on your own.
- paddle one way, leave the kayak in Livingston, and get a
ride back by lancha (public or ours).
NOCTURNAL TOUR (aprox. 2 hs)
Minimum 3 people.
Weather permiting, and specially for full moon, we take you
to the Livingston Canyon of other branches of the river, to
enjoy the open sky, the quietness of the night, a swim, and
why not, a drink on board!

TEMAZCAL
Around 5 pm.
The Mayan Sauna. A place to sweat, relax, open your heart,
mind and skin.
Alternate with a swim in the river is a very healthy treat!!

Guatemala City:
Buses from the Company LITEGUA have a wide schedule to
Puerto Barrios.

colective lancha to Livingston.
From
Livington:
our lancha is every morning there and leaves at noon, back
to the Finca.

The company FUENTE DEL NORTE has buses to Rio Dulce. In Rio
Dulce take a collective lancha towards Livingston and tell
the driver that you go to Finca Tatin.

Antigua:
We recommend going to Guatemala city, by shuttle, the
earlier the better, and from there follow directions above.
From PUNTA GORDA: boats to Livingston on Tuesdays and
Fridays..
Boats to Pto Barrios every day.
From BELIZE CITY: bus to Flores, then to Rio Dulce,
and lancha from there (direction Livingston, and tell the
driver to stop at Finca Tatin).

b) bus to Chiquimula; then bus to Rio Hondo; then bus

OUR
LANCHA, WITH THE NAME WRITTEN AT THE SIDE, IS DOCKED EVERY
MORNING, IN LIVINGSTON, AT THE “BUGAMAMA RESTAURANT” PIER
(NEXT TO THE TEXACO GAS STATION).
WE LEAVE AT 12 PM, BACK TO THE FINCA.
WE CAN
ALSO PICK YOU UP AT OTHER TIMES IF YOU DON`T FIND ANOTHER
BOAT. (ONLY IN LIVINGSTON AND
BEFORE DARK)
ONCE
A WEEK WE GO TO RIO DULCE FOR A SHOPPING TRIP (USUALLY
SATURDAYS). IF YOU HAPPEN TO BE THERE AT THE SAME TIME, WE
CAN TAKE YOU TO THE FINCA. GIVE US A CALL.
WE ARE OPEN ALL YEAR ROUND.
RESERVATIONS ARE RECOMMENDED DURING HIGH SEASON.
FOR EASTER WEEK WE REQUIRE A MINIMUM OF 2 NIGHTS AND A
DEPOSIT OF THE FIRST NIGHT.

Call us from Livingston and we will pick you up with our
boat. We are usually in Livingston
every morning from about 10am until 12pm. Our boat is parked
at the Texaco dock.

Finca Tatín is open throughout the year. We are surrounded
by mountains, so our telephone signal is occasionally weak,
but don´t let this discourage you! Reservations are
accepted, but not necessary.
